MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Ambulatory Building consists of a 740,000 SF diagnostic and treatment facility with a 2,400-car parking garage. Treatment spaces occupy a column-free planning zone 30x56 feet for maximum flexibility for the core space planning, and for ease of making future changes. The staff corridor on the west side, public corridor on the east, as well as mechanical towers on the south and north ends of the building establish a logical and efficient zoning organization. The juxtaposition of the warm-toned locally quarried granite walls and the transparent glazed surfaces compose a material, color and texture contrast defining the exterior architectural expression of the building.
The project was an early LEED certified building.
